Alex Trifan

After a promising school foray into the scientific world, Alex gradually turned to alternative systems of life and perception of reality. For him, the literature from the yogic tradition has so much meaning that his initially sporadic practice gradually turned into an art of living from 2017.

The Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training initiated in him an unstoppable fire of self-purification, and Sivananda’s classic Hatha Yoga Teacher Training allowed him to deepen the roots of the unique yoga system (one tree, many branches).

With a background as a musician (guitar, bass, percussion, vocals, composition / production), Alex discovered in his body the ultimate Nadis string instrument to mastery (tune, synchronize and play the Eternal Song of the Omnic Flower of Life and its infinitely diverse defined forms).
An ancient passage from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika continues to resonate with him: “Hatha Yoga would never be complete without Raja Yoga, and Raja Yoga without Hatha Yoga. You have to practice the pair to perfection.

Gaura Das

Gaura Das first heard the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra in the songs of the Beatles in 1967 and was inspired to learn more about the philosophy of Krishna from the Bhagavad-Gita: As It Is.

In the summer of 1975, while playing and singing in a band in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he met the disciples of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. They invited him to come to Chicago. Experiencing the ecstatic presence of Srila Prabhupada became the turning point in his life. He then began playing and singing with a couple of blues / rhythm and blues bands.

Experiencing the ecstatic presence of Srila Prabhupada became the turning point in his life. He then began playing and singing with a couple of blues / rhythm and blues bands. After moving into the Chicago temple with 50 monks, he received basic mrdanga and kartals lessons.

He went on to learn hundreds of beautiful ragas and melodies to sing the Hare Krishna mantra to as well as traditional bhajans. In 1976, he was asked to do devotional service in Ottawa, Ontario, where he did kirtan for seven years, including learning harmonium from many great Vaishnava kirtan singers. He continued to do kirtan for several hours a day, everyday, at the Montreal and Toronto temples, and then joined several sanyassi monks to do Vaishnava kirtan all over USA, Europe, and India for the last 48 years. He is currently facilitating kirtans in Ontario and Quebec at retreats, yoga studios and various venues. “Kirtan is my life” says Gaura.
